Meet our Senior Project Manager Moira Garee who sat down with us on how the pandemic affected her work and the underground music scene around the world. Despite the uncertainty and having to play in empty halls, Moira believes that the last year might have brought some positive changes towards greater inclusion, accountability and equality for creative communities.
battleROYAL launched their live IR tracking system on the weekend. The wall was approx 50mx30m in size, and the cameras were positioned approx 60m away from the wall.
Thanks to Green Hippo, 10 Feet and Steve Jackson for their incredible support, we couldn’t have done this without you. Infrared tracking of aerial dancers on a large outdoor canvas would not be possible without Green Hippo’s latest beastly media server ‘Montane’. These high-performance servers process rich video data in real-time and ensure the interaction between the performers and video content are synced.

Steven Jackson, AV engineer and one of battle’s key collaborators on this massive project explains that the way in which we are combining IR and tracking on this scale is a real first for the industry in Germany.
The challenge with content production for mapping is the timescale and limited rehearsal which is normally possible on such a job, with this new tracking system we can generate amazing content directly on the performers or musicians, and make instant graphical changes without having to re-render large media files. Most importantly the movement of the artists creates a one-off unique visual experience which evolves each time its repeated. This is immersive, interactive modern theatre and live communication.
