Oddly and fortunately enough, in spite of all adversity, it’s been an extraordinary ride. It’s hard to foresee a reaction to a challenge unless directly confronted with it. In our case, thankfully, the past year has demonstrated an unsuspected perseverance and adaptability to change — within less than a year, we’ve fully transitioned from live, staged to hybrid.
The Global Employee Event for the 350th anniversary of Merck in 2018 won one of the biggest and captivating awards of the year: the BrandEx Award 2019 in the highly competitive category Best Motivation / Best Employee Event. The BrandEx Award recognises outstanding brand experiences, which are evaluated by the creativity and implementation success.
battleROYAL worked on this groundbreaking global event from the beginning and developed not just the show concept and the globally streamed motion design. On behalf of the lead agency fischerAppelt, live marketing we took responsibility for the creative direction, show production and video production.

For the second time battleROYAL has been awarded by the German Design Council. For our spectacular production of the MADSACK 125th anniversary in Hannover battleROYAL received a special mention in the highly competitive category of ‘Event’.
battleROYAL conceived and designed a featured IR tracking component which became an integral storytelling element in the show. Advanced infrared tracking enabled exact interactions between the performers and the live-generated video content. On the 50 x 30 metre facade of the famous Anzeiger Hochhaus the system was one of the Germany’s largest to date and developed and executed by a leading international team with technical support from Steve Jackson, Green Hippo (UK), Tenfeet (NL) and our trusted partner VenCo AG (D).

battleROYAL’s spectacular production for MADSACK’s 125th anniversary in Hannover has been nominated for the esteemed German Design Award 2019. We are thrilled and honoured to have once again been nominated in the category Event after receiving last year’s award for the work on the Aarhus 2017 European Capital of Culture Opening Ceremony.
Our nominated event featured advanced mapping technology and stunning video design for a unique immersive experience in celebration of MADSACK and Hannover. 50,000 spectators gathered in the heart of the city to witness the Anzeiger Hochhaus become an interactive canvas integrating vertical dancers, live opera, musicians, and dancers.
battleROYAL teamed up with Steve Jackson, Green Hippo to develop and implement a brand new infrared tracking system using high-performance servers to project onto the building’s 50 x 30 metre facade.
